About the Unit
The Appellate Unit responds to appeals in criminal and child protection matters in the Macomb County Circuit Court, the Michigan Court of Appeals and Michigan Supreme Court. It also initiates appeals of adverse rulings.
Appellate attorneys constantly monitor changes in the law and provide those updates to all Assistant Prosecutors and area law enforcement officers.
They also provide research assistance to the trial staff when Prosecutors are in trial.
Parole appeals are also a part of this division. These cases involve the opposition to the parole of incarcerated inmates who are a threat to public safety or to individual victims.
