Tuberculosis (TB) skin testing

Macomb County Health Department Immunization Clinics provide TB skin testing to check to see if you have been infected, or if you have ever been exposed, to the bacterium that causes tuberculosis (TB).

Appointments

To make an appointment, call either the Mount Clemens Health Center at 586-469-5372 or the Southwest Health Center at 586-465-8537.

Appointments are preferred. Walk-ins are accepted up to 1 hour prior to the close of clinic.

Closed daily noon - 1 p.m.

Please note: Individuals with appointments will be serviced first. Walk-ins may experience a longer wait time.

Preparing for your appointment

  • The cost for TB skin testing is $20.
  • Payment by cash, check or credit card. An enhanced access fee is applied for credit card usage based on the amount of service being charged. We cannot accept Health Savings Account (HSA) or debit card only transactions.
  • Medicaid and some commercial insurances may be billed for TB skin testing.  Check with ​Immunization ​Clinic staff to confirm if your insurance can be billed for TB skin testing. 
  • Clients must return to the clinic 48-72 hours after the skin test is placed in order to have the result read.  Clients may be required to return to a different MCHD health center location for test reading.
  • A parent or guardian must be available to sign clinic health forms for clients under 18 years of age.
