Food safety education

The Michigan Food Law, Act 92 as amended, requires each food service establishment to have at least one certified food manager.

Manager certification can be accomplished by successfully passing an ANSI accredited examination.  Preparation for the exam can be accomplished by attending a training course designed to provide the food service professional with training in food safety principles,  foodborne illness prevention and proper sanitation practices.  The ANSI accredited exam is normally given at the end of the course.

Certification is nationally recognized and is valid for a five- (5) year period.  Individuals who have a certificate that will be expiring soon can simply retake the exam or take refresher training before sitting for the exam again.
