To ensure safe, efficient, and reliable travel for motorists that use the more than 1,700 miles of roads and 225 bridges under the jurisdiction of Macomb County, MDCR is committed to improving our transportation infrastructure by delivering quality road, bridge, and traffic projects.

Between state, county, and local projects, there are hundreds of work zones in Macomb County each year. To help all road users navigate construction work in Macomb County, the Macomb Work Zone includes information and resources to keep the public informed and up to date of what's happening on the roadways.

MCDR works closely with local contractors and engineers to build some of the safest and most efficient roads in Michigan. To help keep the roads, workers, and drivers safe, MCDR strongly encourages drivers to practice these driving tips:

• Plan ahead. Expect delays, plan for them, and leave early to reach your destination on time. When you can, avoid work zones altogether by using alternate routes.
• Obey road crews and signs. When approaching a work zone, watch for cones, barrels, signs, large vehicles, or workers in bright-colored vests to warn you and direct you where to go.
• Slow down. Look for signs indicating the speed limit through the work zone. Keep a safe distance from the vehicle ahead of you and follow the posted speed limit.
• Move over. Most state move-over laws apply when passing work crews and official vehicles parked on the shoulder with flashing warning lights.
• Avoid distractions. Keep your eyes on the road and off your phone at all times.
• Watch for sudden stoppages. Don’t make sudden lane changes in front of trucks that are trying to slow down.

11 Mile Road in Warren
Location: East of Dequindre Road
Traffic: A double lane closure is in place on northbound Dequindre Road between 11 Mile Road and Edward Griggs Boulevard. A single lane closure is in place on westbound 11 Mile Road between David Givens Street and Dequindre Road.
Duration: March 2026 – October 2026
Description: Eight miles of natural gas pipeline will be replaced in Oakland and Macomb counties. Work is part of the Consumers Energy Four Cities Metro Pipeline project. Contact 248-433-5780 or fourcitiespipeline@cmsenergy.com for additional information.

14 Mile Road in Clinton Township and Roseville
Location: Between Kelly Road and Gratiot Avenue (M-3)
Traffic: The road is open to traffic. Intermittent lane closures will be in place to perform restoration and punch list work. Access to all businesses and properties will be maintained throughout the duration of the project.
Duration: April 2026 – Summer 2026
Description: Restoration and punch list work.

Guardrail Safety Work in Macomb County
Location: Countywide
Traffic: A contractor will perform guardrail work at locations throughout Macomb County. Intermittent lane closures with flagging operations will be in place to control traffic at active project locations. The schedule for each location will vary and weather may affect scheduled work.
Duration: May 11, 2026 – Summer 2026
Description: Guardrail work. Work is part of MCDR's 2026 Guardrail Safety Program.

Sugarbush Road in Chesterfield Township
Location: Between Callens Road and Jefferson Avenue
Traffic: Sugarbush Road will be open to northbound traffic only. Drivers are encouraged to follow the posted detours and seek alternate routes. Access to all businesses and properties will be maintained throughout the duration of the project.
Duration: June 9, 2026 – September 2026
Description: Road rehabilitation.

Jefferson Avenue in Harrison Township
Location: Between Metropolitan Parkway and South River Road
Traffic: Jefferson Avenue will be open to northbound traffic only. Drivers are encouraged to follow the posted detour and seek alternate routes. Access to all businesses and properties will be maintained throughout the duration of the project.
Duration: June 22, 2026 – September 2026
Description: Road rehabilitation.

Schoenherr Road over the Red Run Drain in Sterling Heights
Location: Between 15 Mile Road and Moravian Drive
Traffic: Schoenherr Road will be partially open during bridge work with two temporary lanes of traffic. Drivers should expect delays and are encouraged to seek alternate routes. Access to all businesses and properties will be maintained throughout the duration of the project.
Duration: July 6, 2026 – November 2026
Description: Bridge deck replacement.

Broughton Road in Macomb Township
Location: Between 23-1/2 Mile Road to 24-1/2 Mile Road
Traffic: 24 Mile Road will be closed to through traffic between Romeo Plank Road and Foss Road. Drivers are encouraged to follow the posted detour and seek alternate routes. Access to all businesses and properties will be maintained throughout the duration of the project.
Duration: July 9, 2026 – November 2026
Description: Road reconstruction.

Glenwood Street in Clinton Township
Location: Between M-3 and Harper Avenue
Traffic: The road will remain open and traffic will be maintained during construction operations. Access to all properties will be maintained throughout the duration of the project.
Duration: July 15, 2026 – August 2026
Description: Road resurfacing. The project is part of MCDR's 2026 Subdivision Preservation Program (SPP).

Iroquois Street in Clinton Township
Location: Between northbound M-3 and southbound M-3
Traffic: The road will remain open and traffic will be maintained during construction operations. Access to all properties will be maintained throughout the duration of the project.
Duration: July 15, 2026 – August 2026
Description: Road resurfacing. The project is part of MCDR's 2026 Subdivision Preservation Program (SPP).

25 Mile Road in Shelby Township
Location: Between Dequindre Road and Mound Road
Traffic: The road will remain open and traffic will be maintained during construction operations. Drivers should expect delays and are encouraged to seek alternate routes. Access to all businesses and properties will be maintained throughout the duration of the project.
Duration: July 16, 2026 – August 2026
Description: Asphalt preservation and resurfacing. The project is part of MCDR's 2026 Pavement Preservation Program (PPP).

Aynesley Street in Clinton Township
Location: Between 17 Mile Road and south of Monticello Drive
Traffic: Aynesley Street will be open to one way traffic only. Drivers are encouraged to follow the posted detours and seek alternate routes. Access to all properties will be maintained throughout the duration of the project.
Duration: July 27, 2026 – August 2026
Description: Concrete patching. The project is part of MCDR's 2026 Pavement Preservation Program (PPP).

21 Mile Road in Macomb Township
Location: Between Garfield Road and Romeo Plank Road
Traffic: The road will remain open and traffic will be maintained during construction operations. Drivers should expect delays and are encouraged to seek alternate routes. Access to all businesses and properties will be maintained throughout the duration of the project.
Duration: July 27, 2026 – August 2026
Description: Asphalt preservation and resurfacing. The project is part of MCDR's 2026 Pavement Preservation Program (PPP).

Romeo Plank Road in Clinton Township
Location: Between Clinton River Road and Cass Avenue
Traffic: The road will remain open and traffic will be maintained during construction operations. Drivers should expect delays and are encouraged to seek alternate routes. Access to all businesses and properties will be maintained throughout the duration of the project.
Duration: July 27, 2026 – August 2026
Description: Asphalt preservation and resurfacing. The project is part of MCDR's 2026 Pavement Preservation Program (PPP).

Pavement Marking in Macomb County
Location: Countywide
Traffic: A contractor will be performing pavement line painting work throughout Macomb County. Moving lane closures will be in place during painting operations and painting crews will be working multiple days per week, including weekends. The schedule for each road may vary and weather may affect scheduled work.
Duration: July 27, 2026 – September 2026
Description: Pavement marking painting. Work is part of MCDR's 2026 Longitudinal Pavement Marking Program.

Melody Court in Clinton Township
Location: At Woodstream Drive
Traffic: The road will remain open and traffic will be maintained during construction operations. Drivers should expect delays and are encouraged to seek alternate routes. Access to all properties will be maintained throughout the duration of the project.
Duration: August 4, 2026 – September 2026
Description: Concrete patching. The project is part of MCDR's 2026 Pavement Preservation Program (PPP).

Avery Street in Clinton Township and Mount Clemens
Location: Between Crocker Boulevard and South River Road
Traffic: Southbound Avery Street will be closed to through traffic during construction operations. Drivers should expect delays and are encouraged to seek alternate routes. Access to all properties will be maintained throughout the duration of the project.
Duration: August 7, 2026 – September 2026
Description: Concrete patching. The project is part of MCDR's 2026 Pavement Preservation Program (PPP).

🚧 Canal Road in Clinton Township 🚧
Location: Between Hayes Road and Clinton River Road
Traffic: The road will remain open and traffic will be maintained during construction operations. Drivers should expect delays and are encouraged to seek alternate routes. Access to all businesses and properties will be maintained throughout the duration of the project.
Duration: August 10, 2026 – September 2026
Description: Asphalt preservation and resurfacing. The project is part of MCDR's 2026 Pavement Preservation Program (PPP).

🚧 Bonior Trail in Clinton Township 🚧
Location: Between Utica Road and the Clinton River
Traffic: Intermittent closures of sections of the Bonior Trail will be in place during rehabilitation operations.
Duration: August 10, 2026 – Fall 2026
Description: Trail and pedestrian bridge rehabilitation. Work is associated with Bonior Trail pathway improvements by Clinton Township. Contact the Clinton Township Department of Public Services at 586-286-9300 for additional information.

🚧 Cotton Road in Chesterfield Township 🚧
Location: Between Gratiot Avenue (M-3) and Halo Drive
Traffic: The road will remain open and traffic will be maintained during construction operations. Drivers should expect delays and are encouraged to seek alternate routes. Access to all businesses and properties will be maintained throughout the duration of the project.
Duration: August 17, 2026 – September 2026
Description: Asphalt preservation and resurfacing. The project is part of MCDR's 2026 Pavement Preservation Program (PPP).

🚧 Little Mack Avenue, Carlier Street and South Nunneley Road in Clinton Township 🚧
Location: Between Groesbeck Highway and Gratiot Avenue
Traffic: Little Mack Avenue, Carlier Street and South Nunneley Road will be open to local traffic only. Drivers should expect delays and are encouraged to seek alternate routes. Access to all properties will be maintained throughout the duration of the project, but through traffic will be restricted.
Duration: August 17, 2026 – November 2026
Description: Road reconstruction.

🚧 14 Mile Road in Fraser 🚧
Location: Between Hayes Road and Utica Road
Traffic: The road will remain open with lane closures in place during construction operations. Drivers should expect delays and are encouraged to seek alternate routes. Access to all businesses and properties will be maintained throughout the duration of the project.
Duration: August 17, 2026 – September 2026
Description: Concrete patching. The project is part of MCDR's 2026 Pavement Preservation Program (PPP).

🚧 32 Mile Road in Richmond and Richmond Township 🚧
Location: Between the CN railroad crossing and the County line
Traffic: The road will be open to one way traffic during construction operations. Drivers are encouraged to follow the posted detours and seek alternate routes. Access to all businesses and properties will be maintained throughout the duration of the project.
Duration: August 31, 2026 – October 2026
Description: Asphalt preventive maintenance and resurfacing.

🚧 Utica Road railroad crossing in Fraser 🚧
Location: Between Groesbeck Highway (M-97) and Masonic
Traffic: The railroad crossing is anticipated to be closed September 14 through September 20 for railroad repair work. Utica Road will be closed to through traffic at the railroad crossing. Drivers are encouraged to follow the posted detours and seek alternate routes. Access to all properties will be maintained throughout the duration of the project.
Duration: September 14, 2026 – September 20, 2026
Description: The closure is associated with railroad crossing repair work by CN Railway.
