MiFile for Civil cases only
MiFile is the State of Michigan's e-filing system. It is the process of filing court papers using a computer instead of handing them to a court clerk in person. If you have a civil case in our court, you must use the MiFile system for all of your filings. Please use the links below to learn more about MiFile and access the system to setup an account. For a list of exemptions from using MiFile in certain circumstances, please see MCR 1.109(G)(3)(g)-(i).
To file a civil lawsuit at the 42-1 District Court - Romeo:
- The cause of action must have occurred in or the defendant must live within Armada Township, Bruce Township, Ray Township, Richmond Township, Washington Township, Village of Armada, Village of Romeo, Memphis (south of Bordman Rd.) or Richmond
- The claim may not exceed $25,000.
- A summons and complaint must be filed with the court.
- Any evidence should be submitted at the time of filing.
- The plaintiff is required to serve the summons and complaint upon the defendant.
*Filing Fees:
- $35 filing fee for claims up to $600
- $55 filing fee or claims...$601 - $1,750
- $75 filing fee for claims...$1,751 - $10,000
- $160 filing fee for claims...$10,001 - $25,000
*These filing fees do not include process server fees, motion fees, or post judgment costs.
Process Serving
- Scan QR code or go to Gouranger.com
- Click "Order Services" and/or create an account.
- Fill out order form, enter Defendant's address and upload case files from the Court.
- Enter payment information.
