Most of us spend more than 90% of our time in an indoor environment. A home is often the biggest single investment people make. The following information will help to ensure that your investment promotes healthy and safe living. Many housing deficiencies could impact your health and safety. For example, lead-based paint and dust may contribute to lead poisoning in children; water leakage and mold may contribute to asthma episodes; improper use and storage of pesticides may result in unintentional poisoning; and lack of working smoke, and carbon monoxide alarms may cause serious injury and death.

So, Let’s see if your indoor environment is healthy.

Please note: The Macomb County Environmental Health staff can provide guidance and education on how to correct housing conditions that could have potential to harm health. However, please be aware that our role is mainly educational and we do not have authority over private homes including rental properties so we may not be able to make a home owner or landlord fix a problem.
