City/township pet limits

Pet limits are determined by the local city or township within Macomb County.

Macomb County residents need to follow the limitations on the number of pets they are allowed to have in their area. It is important that you stay within the legal limits of your jurisdiction, which include fostered pets for rescues or sanctuaries. Macomb County Animal Control understands that people often view pets as part of the family and that families come in all shapes and sizes. Many of us have furry, feathered, or reptilian family members of our own. However, in consideration of public health and safety, certain limits must be placed on the number and type of pets allowable.

Those seeking permission to exceed the legal number of pets allowed will need to request approval for a variance from their local city/township.

Pet limits are as follows:

3 dogs / 6 cats
