Macomb County residents now have the opportunity to request a voucher from Macomb County Animal Control to cover the cost of the TNR sterilization package offered by All About Animals Rescue. Participants will be limited to 3 vouchers per month. Community cats must be trapped within our service areas of Macomb County and must then be safely released back into the originating area.
Macomb County Community Cat TNR program offers a humane, non-lethal approach to controlling the long-term, free-roaming cat population. Cats that participate in the TNR program are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and have their ear tip clipped to symbolize that they have been sterilized through the program, and they are returned to the area where they originate. Cats must be trapped within Macomb County and be released back to the area from which they came. Cats must be 8 weeks or older and weigh a healthy 2lbs or more.
Participants are responsible for:
- Contacting the Warren location of All About Animals Rescue via email staff@allaboutanimalsrescue.org to request a community cat TNR appointment. Appointments are typically scheduled for Mondays and Tuesdays, but please see their website for updates regarding TNR surgery scheduling.
- Completing the TNR voucher request form below once they have received a TNR surgery appointment date from All About Animals.
- Humane live trapping of the community cat.
- Transporting (including drop-off and pick-up) the community cat to/from All About Animals Rescue in Warren.
- Safe release of the community cat.
Trap Neuter Return Requirement
- TNR is for outdoor cats getting returned outside. Abusing the TNR vouchers for pets or cats to be adopted will result in termination of services.
- Check for an eartip before your appointment. Eartipped cats are already sterilized
- Cats must be transported in humane live traps, not rodent traps or pet carriers.
- Traps must be completely covered by a large towel, bed sheet or blanket.
- Only the cat must be within the confines of the trap. Any food, dishes, or other items must be removed prior to drop off.
- Trap doors must be secured with something that can be quickly removed (carabiners or zip ties work well).
This program is NOT currently available for the residents of
Eastpointe, Mount Clemens, Sterling Heights, or Warren.
These residents should contact their city's Animal Control departments
regarding the TNR programs available in their areas.
