Mount Clemens, MI - A 48-year-old man was arraigned in connection with a hit and run in Warren in February 2024.

It is alleged that on Friday, February 23, 2024, Tony Prather and the victim were in Prather’s truck and stopped at a bar in Warren.  Prather dropped the victim off at his home where he allegedly hit him with his truck and left him in the road.  The victim was in critical condition but is expected to survive.  Prather left the state and was extradited back to Michigan recently.

Prather is charged with Assault with Intent to Murder (life felony), Failure to Stop at the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Serious Impairment or Death (five years), Operating a Vehicle While License Suspended Causing Serious Injury (five year felony).  Prather is also being charged as a habitual fourth offender.

On Thursday, April 11, 2024, Prather was arraigned in 37th Warren District Court by District Court Judge Michael Chupa where bond was set at $350,000 cash/surety, no 10%.  Upon release Prather must wear a steel cuff GPS tether, have no contact with the victim and not leave the state of Michigan.  A Probable Cause Hearing is scheduled for Thursday, May 16, 2024 at 8:45 am in front of District Court Judge Steve Bieda.

"Fleeing the scene after allegedly causing serious injury is a cowardly act that will not go unpunished. Regardless of where the individual attempts to hide, we will ensure they are brought back to face the consequences of their actions. There is no escape from accountability," said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.

The Macomb County Prosecutor’s office represents the people.  We are committed to achieving justice and following the laws of the State of Michigan. All that are accused of a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
