Two Arraigned for Murder for Hire Plot Discovered from Macomb County Jail Calls

A woman from Chesterfield and a man from Warren have been arraigned in connection with a murder for hire plot, discovered from Macomb County jail calls when the man was incarcerated.

Mount Clemens, Michigan - A woman from Chesterfield and a man from Warren have been arraigned in connection with a murder for hire plot, discovered from Macomb County jail calls when the man was incarcerated.

Aaron Muterspaw, age 36, was incarcerated in the Macomb County Jail from May 1, 2023 through September 26, 2023 from pleading guilty in a drunk driving case.  It is alleged that during that time, Carmen Marchetti, age 35, asked Muterspaw to have her soon to be ex-husband killed. Muterspaw acknowledged her request and said he would facilitate the murder for her.

Carmen Marchetti is charged with Solicitation of Murder (life felony), Conspiracy to Commit Homicide (life felony), and Malicious Use of a Telecommunication Service (six month misdemeanor).  Aaron Muterspaw is charged with Conspiracy to Commit Homicide (life felony), and Malicious Use of a Telecommunication Service (six month misdemeanor). He is being charged as a habitual second offender.

On Monday, April 1, 2024, both defendants were arraigned in 41B Clinton Township District Court by Magistrate Ryan Zemke. Zemke set a $100,000 personal bond for Carmen Marchetti. Zemke set bond for Muterspaw at $500,000 cash/surety, 10%.  A Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for both defendants on Monday, April 15, 2024 at 8:30am before District Court Judge Sebastian Lucido.  

"In orchestrating this alleged plot, the two defendants displayed a callous disregard for human life and the rule of law. Their actions serve as a reminder of the grave danger posed by individuals willing to resort to violence,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
