Mount Clemens, MI - Today, Nathaniel Taylor, age 22, was sentenced for the murder of Taya Land, a 17 year old mother on I-94 in St. Clair Shores.

On Friday, October 14, 2022, Taylor met with Land.  They had an argument and Taylor pushed Land out of his vehicle and shot her three times in the head with a 9mm firearm.

Nathaniel Taylor was charged with one count of Second Degree Murder (life felony) and one count of Felony Firearm (two year mandatory felony).  On Thursday, April 4, 2024, Taylor pleaded no contest as charged. Today, Macomb County Circuit Court Chief Judge James Biernat, Jr. sentenced Taylor to 17-50 years on the Second Degree Murder conviction and two years to serve consecutively for the Felony Firearm conviction.

"This sentence ensures the defendant is held accountable for this senseless loss of life. I hope this will bring some closure to the family who have suffered a great tragedy,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
