Roseville Man Arraigned in Alleged Domestic Violence Assault & Fleeing Police

A Roseville man was arraigned on 8 counts in connection with an alleged domestic violence assault and fleeing police.

Mount Clemens, MI -  Yesterday, a Roseville man was arraigned on 8 counts in connection with an alleged domestic violence assault and fleeing police.

It is alleged that on Sunday, February 25, 2024, Gary Young was at his girlfriend’s residence in Sterling Heights where he assaulted his girlfriend and her teenage daughter.  Sterling Heights Police arrived at the residence and Young fled.  Police attempted a traffic stop where Young fled at a high rate of speed.  The defendant crashed his vehicle near Gratiot and I-94 and fled on foot against police commands.  Young allegedly continued to resist officers until he was arrested.

Young was charged with the following:

Count 1:  Fleeing Police Officer in the Third Degree (five year felony)
Count 2:  Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (four year felony)
Count 3:  Assaulting a Police Officer Causing Injury (four year felony)
Count 4: Assaulting/Resisting a Police Officer (two year felony)
Count 5: Assaulting/Resisting a Police Officer (two year felony)
Count 6: Domestic Violence (93 day misdemeanor)
Count 7: Domestic Violence (93 day misdemeanor)
Count 8: Operating While License Suspended Second Offense (one year misdemeanor)

Young was arraigned in Sterling Heights District Court by Magistrate Michael Piatek where bond was set at $15,000 cash/surety, 10%.  A Probable Cause Hearing is scheduled for Thursday, March 7, 2024 at 1:00pm and a Preliminary Exam is scheduled for Thursday, March 14, 2024 at 9:00am by District Court Judge Annemarie Lepore.

“The actions of the defendant, who allegedly assaulted two women and endangered public safety by fleeing from law enforcement and assaulting officers in the process, will not go unpunished. We will vigorously pursue the full extent of the law to hold accountable those who show such blatant disregard for the safety and well-being of others," said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
