Mount Clemens, MI -  On Wednesday, March 13, 2024, the Probable Cause Conference for Detroit resident Tenia Fleming was adjourned due to Fleming’s defense counsel requesting discovery in the case.

It was learned late yesterday that the defendant is a Wayne County Deputy.  The defendant was charged under her married name but uses her maiden name with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department.  The Wayne County Sheriff’s Department was made aware of the charges and Officer Fleming has been suspended without pay pending an investigation. The Wayne County Sheriff’s Department’s Internal Affairs Department is fully cooperating with the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office.

It is alleged that on Friday, December 15, 2023, Tenia Fleming, age 44, yelled racial slurs, threw a pillow at a victim in Marshalls on Gratiot in Roseville.  Fleming is charged with Ethnic Intimidation (two year felony) and Assault (93-day misdemeanor).

Fleming’s Probable Cause Conference was rescheduled for Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at 8:30am by Roseville District Court Judge Kathleen Tocco via Zoom.

“Ethnic intimidation has no place in our society, especially from those tasked with safeguarding our communities. Equality under the law demands unwavering commitment, and any deviation from this principle will be met with the appropriate consequences," said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.

The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office represents the people.  We are committed to achieving justice and following the laws of the State of Michigan. All that are accused of a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
