Prisoner Bound Over to Macomb County Circuit Court for Alleged Murder of His Cellmate

Mount Clemens, MI - Yesterday, Michael Ketchum was bound over to Macomb County Circuit Court by New Baltimore District Court Judge William Hackel III. 

It is alleged that on October 18, 2022 Michael Ketchum went to breakfast and stabbed another inmate multiple times in the head, neck and arm.  Officers then went to his cell where they discovered Ketchum’s cellmate hogtied, strangled, and stabbed to death underneath his bed.  The defendant has been moved to another facility where he remains behind bars.  

Michael Ketchum is charged with First Degree Murder (life without parole), Assault with Intent to Murder (life felony), and Prisoner in Possession of a Weapon (five year felony).  Ketchum is scheduled to be arraigned in Macomb County Circuit Court on Monday, April 1, 2024 at 1:30pm by Circuit Court Judge Kathryn Viviano.

"It is my duty to ensure justice prevails, especially for those who can no longer speak for themselves. This defendant, who allegedly took the life of his cellmate, will face the consequences of his actions,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
