Man Arraigned for Setting Fire to Mobile Home

Mount Clemens, MI -  Today, a 48-year-old Harrison Township man was arraigned in connection with a mobile home fire.

It is alleged that on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, Malcolm Underwood set two fires in a mobile home where he was being evicted.  He was recently extradited from New Year State.  Underwood is being charged with Arson of an Insured Dwelling (life felony), Second Degree Arson (20 year felony), and Preparation to Burn a Dwelling (ten year felony).

Underwood was arraigned in 41B Clinton Township District Court where Magistrate Ryan Zemke set bond at $50,000 cash/surety, no 10% and upon release he must wear a GPS tether.  He was also referred to Community Corrections.  No further court date has been set at this time.

“Criminal actions, especially those that endanger the lives and properties of others, will not be tolerated. The extradition of the defendant demonstrates our commitment to justice and safety in our community," said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
