Imlay City Man Arraigned For Alleged Drunk Driving Crash, Killing One

A 55-year-old man was arraigned on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 in connection with an alleged drunk driving head on collision.

Mount Clemens, MI - A 55-year-old man was arraigned on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 in connection with an alleged drunk driving head on collision.  

It is alleged that on Monday, April 8, 2024, Jeffrey Scott Lucas, was driving to work around 9:00 pm on Brown Road in Bruce Township when he tried to pass another vehicle.  He hit a motorcycle head on, killing 53-year-old Andrew Troia.

Jeffrey Lucas is charged with Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated Causing Death (15 year felony) and Operating While Intoxicated Third Offense (one to five years).

Lucas was arraigned in Romeo District Court by District Court Judge Jennifer Andary where bond was set at $750,000 cash/surety, no 10%.   A Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at 10:00 am and a Preliminary Exam is scheduled for Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at 9:00 am.

"A man's irresponsible choice to allegedly drive drunk caused a fatal collision resulting in the senseless loss of a life. The alleged drunk driver will be held fully accountable for his actions, as there's no excuse for such disregard for human safety," said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
