Mount Clemens, MI -  Today, the Preliminary Exam for Roseville resident Gary Young was adjourned by the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office and Young’s defense attorney pending the completion of the Macomb County Sheriff’s Department investigation into the arresting officers.

It is alleged that on Sunday, February 25, 2024, Gary Young was at his girlfriend’s residence in Sterling Heights where he assaulted his girlfriend and their teenage daughter.  Sterling Heights Police arrived at the residence, Young disobeyed police commands and fled in his vehicle.  After an extensive police chase, Young crashed his vehicle, fled on foot and was eventually arrested.

The conduct of the arresting Sterling Heights Police Officers in this case is currently under an independent investigation by the Macomb County Sheriff’s Department. Once the investigation is completed the Macomb County Sheriff’s Department will present any findings to the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office for further review.

Gary Young’s Preliminary Exam is rescheduled for Thursday,  April 11, 2024 at 9:00am by Sterling Heights District Court Judge Annemarie Lepore.
