Mount Clemens, MI - Yesterday, Florida resident Renado Coleman, age 38, was extradited to Michigan in connection with a carjacking outside of Lifetime Fitness in Shelby Twp. Today, he was arraigned on twelve counts for his alleged participation in the incident.
It is alleged that on Monday, October 23, 2023, Renado Coleman and five other suspects carjacked the victim at gunpoint, restrained him in his own vehicle and drove away. The suspects allegedly tortured the victim, drove the victim to his house, and entered the residence. Sterling Heights Police Department arrived at the victim’s residence and Coleman fled.
Renado Coleman is charged with twelve counts:
Count One: Carjacking (life felony)
Count Two: Conspiracy to Commit Carjacking (life felony)
Count Three: Felony Firearm (two year mandatory felony)
Count Four: Armed Robbery (life felony)
Count Five: Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery (life felony)
Count Six: Felony Firearm (two year mandatory felony)
Count Seven: Torture (life felony)
Count Eight: Unlawful Imprisonment (15 year felony)
Count Nine: Conspiracy to Commit Unlawful Imprisonment (life felony)
Count Ten: Felony Firearm (two year mandatory felony)
Count Eleven: First Degree Home Invasion (20 year felony)
Count Twelve: Conspiracy to Commit First Degree Home Invasion (20 year felony)
Coleman was arraigned in 41A Shelby Township District Court by Magistrate James VerPloeg where the bond was set at $5 million, cash only. If released Coleman must wear a GPS steel cuff tether. A Probable Cause Hearing is scheduled for Thursday, February 29, 2024 at 1:30pm by District Court Judge Douglas Shepherd.
Coleman is the third defendant to be charged and arraigned in this incident. Angel Andujar-Ruiz and Angel Pantoja were arraigned and are due back in Shelby Twp. District Court for a hearing on Monday, February 26, 2024 at 3:00pm before District Court Judge Douglas Shepherd.
“These alleged crimes are indicative of a dangerous individual who must be held accountable for his actions. It is my duty to ensure that justice is served and that our community is protected from such acts of violence,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
