Mount Clemens, MI -  Yesterday, a Detroit man was arraigned in connection with fleeing and resisting police following a traffic stop by Warren officers.

It is alleged that on Saturday, March 16, 2024, 27-year-old Romero Austin-Folson was driving without a license plate.  Warren Police Officers pulled him over.  Austin-Folson pulled over, but soon refused police commands.  Then he drove away striking the foot of an officer.  The defendant eventually stopped and officers arrested him.  A separate officer responding to the scene was struck by another vehicle in route.  The responding officer was transported to the hospital in stable condition.

Austin-Folson was charged with Fleeing Police in the Third Degree (five year felony) and two counts of Assaulting/Resisting/Obstructing a Police Officer (two year felonies).

Romero Austin-Folson was arraigned in 37th Warren District Court where District Court Judge Steve Bieda set bond at $100,000 cash/surety. A Probable Cause Hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, March 26, 2024 by District Court Judge Michael Chupa.

"This arrest serves as a testament to the unwavering commitment of the Warren Police Department to pursue those who attempt to evade accountability,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
