Clinton Twp. Man Bound Over to Macomb County Circuit Court for Allegedly Shooting and Killing His Wife

Sterling Heights District Court Judge Stephen Sierawski bound over Steven Wheeler to the Macomb County Circuit Court in connection with the shooting of his wife.

Mount Clemens, MI - Today, Sterling Heights District Court Judge Stephen Sierawski bound over Steven Wheeler to the Macomb County Circuit Court in connection with the shooting of his wife. 

It is alleged that on Thursday, October 19, 2023 Steven Wheeler, age 30, got into an altercation with his wife.  His wife called 911 and asked for police to come because her husband was assaulting her.  It is alleged that while she was on the phone Steven Wheeler shot her multiple times, killing her.

Wheeler was charged with First Degree Murder (life felony) and Felony Firearm (two year mandatory felony).  Wheeler is scheduled to be arraigned in Macomb County Circuit Court on Monday, May 13, 2024 at 1:30pm by Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Julie Gatti.  The defendant remains in-custody at the Macomb County Jail.

"The brutality of domestic violence has once again shattered lives. This incident not only extinguished a precious life but underscores the urgent need to confront and eradicate domestic abuse from our communities,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
