Mount Clemens, MI - Today, the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office amended charges against two Warren Police Officers in connection with a traffic stop.

It is alleged that on Thursday, July 20, 2023 Officer Dammeon Player and Officer Carlos Taylor were on shift as uniformed officers for the City of Warren.  Both officers conducted a traffic stop on a semi-truck operated by the victim.  The traffic stop was made outside of the officers jurisdiction.  Officer Player allegedly used unnecessary force during the arrest of the victim.

Dammeon Player was originally charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (four year felony), and  Public Official Willful Failure to Uphold the Law (one-year misdemeanor). After further review of the evidence the charges were amended.  The charge of Public Official Willful Failure to Uphold the Law was dismissed and the charge of Misconduct in Office (five year felony) was added along with the original charge of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (four year felony). Player’s next court date is Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at 8:45 am in Centerline District Court.

Carlos Taylor was originally charged with Public Official Willful Failure to Uphold the Law (one-year misdemeanor), and Assault and Battery (93 day misdemeanor).  After further review of the evidence the Macomb County Prosecutors’ Office added the additional charge of Misconduct in Office (five year felony) along with the two original charges. Taylor’s next court date is Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at 8:45 am in Centerline District Court.
