Deputies respond to fatal motorcycle crash

Harrison Township, MI – On 03/05/2024, at approximately 7:08PM, Macomb County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) Deputies were dispatched to South River Road in Harrison Township for a motorcyclist driving recklessly and weaving in and out of the roadway. Almost immediately, Dispatch received a call stating that the motorcyclist lost control and crashed near Hamon Street.


Deputies arrived on scene and observed the driver of the motorcycle, Ryan Lieb, 22-years-old from Chesterfield Township, unresponsive in the middle of South River Road. Lieb was pronounced dead at the scene.


Through investigation it was determined that Lieb was traveling east on South River Road near Townhall. He passed another vehicle at a high rate of speed in the oncoming traffic lane. Lieb hit the rear passenger side of a Ford Explorer, which was in the process of turning into a residence. He was thrown from the heavily damaged motorcycle.


The MCSO Crash Team was called to investigate. At this time, there is no evidence to show alcohol as being a factor.
