Join us on Saturday, May 4th from 10 am till 2 pm for "Shelter Barks Back" Adoption Event. Many adoption fees are reduced or sponsored!

Adoptable pets can be viewed online at https://www.macombgov.org/animal-control/adoptions.

Adoption applications can be completed online prior to arrival or in person.

  • For those who do not own their home, it is required that you bring proof of your rental/lease agreement with the pet addendum in order to finalize the adoption. The minimum adoption age is 18, so those who live with their parents will need their parents present to finalize the adoption.
  • We want to make the perfect match for your family, therefore we request that ALL family members in home, including children and dog(s) be present at the time of adoption. Please keep your dog(s) RESTRAINED/CONFINED outside of the adoption area until you are ready to meet the dog you are interested in, at which time a staff member will assist with proper introduction.
  • Macomb County Animal Control staff will be verifying proper vaccine and preventative care history on owned pets, as well as ensuring proper licensing laws have been followed for those applying to adopt. We want what's best for our shelter pets! It is a great idea to be prepared to adopt by bringing your pet’s current preventative care history.

All of the animals available for adoption are spayed/neutered, current on age/species appropriate vaccines, provided with prevention and microchipped. Dog license fees are NOT included in the adoption fee but are required for all Macomb County residents.

Regular adoption hours are M-F 10am-4pm.
