COMTEC - Communications and Technology Center

Facility that provides 24/7 situational awareness for Macomb County residents, businesses and first responders.

Macomb County COMTEC - Communications and Technology Center

Opened in December 2013, the Macomb County Communications and Technology Center (COMTEC) is a state-of-the-art, 25,000 square foot facility that provides 24/7 situational awareness for emergencies and significant events in Macomb County.

COMTEC houses the Sheriff’s Office Central Dispatch, the Department of Roads Traffic Operations Center, the Department of Information Technology, and the Department of Emergency Management and Communications. Having these four entities into one facility maximizes resources and improves government services.

Key features of the facility include:

  • 20’ by 50’ LCD video wall, configurable for use by all four agencies sharing the facility
  • Eight traffic monitoring stations
  • 20 dispatch stations
  • Computer lab/training room
  • Integrated communications and technologies
  • A Information Command Center (ICC) to coordinate public information in times of crisis

Whether responding to a routine traffic accident, road closure, call for police/fire/EMS service, or a significant emergency event such as severe weather or act of terrorism, COMTEC puts Macomb County on the best footing to prevent, protect against, mitigate, respond to, or recover from emergencies of any size and scope.
