Non-US Citizens Findings from Jury Pool and QVF
A few months ago, our office conducted a cross‑check of our jury pool database with the state’s Qualified Voter File (QVF). Through this review, we identified several individuals who were listed as registered voters but were not U.S. citizens. We also continue to see a significant number of prospective jurors who self‑report that they are not citizens and are therefore ineligible to serve. In 2025 that number was over 600 people!
To bring greater visibility to this issue, our office has developed a new informational page that outlines the scope of the problem and highlights the need for improved safeguards. Our goal is to increase transparency and encourage collaboration toward finding a long‑term solution that prevents non‑citizens from being added to the jury pool, and most importantly, from being included in the QVF.
