Your partner in business

Macomb County Planning and Economic Development had a busy and rewarding year in 2025. From relaunching the Real Estate Forum to hosting a highly successful Macomb Business Awards, our team stayed active throughout the year. And between our major events, we were hard at work supporting local companies through our business retention visit program.

Retention Visits are opportunities for one of our experienced economic developers to meet in person with a local business, learn about their operations, understand who they serve, and identify how the County can help them grow. That support comes in many forms; grants, property search assistance, tax incentive programs, workforce training, financing programs, business success stories, and much more.

So what happens when a business reaches out to one of our experts? The process often begins with an introductory meeting in person or virtually depending on what the business would like. This initial conversation helps us understand what the business does, who they serve, and what questions or challenges they may be facing. Our staff includes specialists in a wide range of industries, including aerospace and defense, agriculture and food processing, distribution and logistics, automation and robotics, and automotive and mobility. If a business operates in Macomb County, we have an expert who knows the industry.

After the introductory phase, our team reviews the information provided and explores available resources and opportunities. From there, we continue the discussion with the business to identify solutions that benefit the company. These solutions can range from workforce training needs to assisting with the search for a new space in Macomb to call home.

And our support doesn’t end once the ideas are presented. We stay engaged to ensure everything moves forward successfully. That can include follow‑up calls, additional conversations, and even on‑site visits to see progress firsthand. We believe in a hands‑on approach, because we’re not just economic developers, we’re partners in each business’s success.
