I’m having trouble finding workers/talent. How can you help?

Talent shortages are a problem. We may have a solution.

Finding enough trained talent is a nationwide problem. Let us connect you to services that can provide you with a quality workforce and/or uptrain your current workforce.

Here are just a few of the ways we can help:

  • Connections to Michigan Works! to obtain and/or uptrain your employees
  • Connections to Michigan New Jobs Training Program through Macomb Community College
  • Connections with local, K-12 programs through our Fueling the Talent Pipeline program, to interest students in jobs of today and tomorrow
  • State funding to develop and train new employees through the Going Pro Talent Fund
  • On-the-job training

"If your business is struggling to attract talent, my first action is to research why. Does the business have a positive reputation, good culture, strong values, a commitment to employee growth and development? Are the wages and benefits competitive? Is the location a barrier? There are many reasons that a business can struggle to attract talent. You need to understand the problem before you can provide a solution.

As a business, you may benefit from our department generating a wage data report to see how competitive your wages are. We can utilize training grants to upskill incumbent employees and introduce you to local workforce development experts. We can assist in building a stronger employer brand.  And we can utilize multiple recruiting channels and talent pools.

I have a number of resources I can utilize to assist you in finding talent. Those include Michigan Works! Their services are free, and they can assist you with marketing, recruiting and screening. Additionally, and depending on your needs, Macomb Community College has a workforce and continuing education program that can provide training and certifications. Finally, our department is tapping into the next generation of talent with our Fueling the Talent Pipeline (FTTP) program. And we can get you involved with that.

Together we can implement a strategy that can increase your chances of finding and attracting skilled and talented workers."
