MCC offers apprenticeship information for businesses looking to grow workforce

Many industries are experiencing steady growth combined with an aging workforce.  The solution to the skilled-talent gap may be a registered apprenticeship program. Many area employers have turned to Macomb Community College (MCC) as their training provider.  Our department is sponsoring Hot Topics: Apprenticeship How To where employers can hear from MCC and company officials with first-hand experience implementing successful apprenticeship programs.

Apprenticeship programs are registered through the Department of Labor (DoL).  Employers work directly with the DoL to get the program registered and then register their apprentices in the program.  MCC can provide these companies with curriculum, also known as required technical instruction, and customize it to meet the company’s needs.

According to the DoL, apprenticeships in Michigan are outpacing national averages. They are growing in popularity because they provide on-the-job training with classroom instruction without burdensome student loans.  This form of education is particularly advantageous for Macomb County’s manufacturing-heavy marketplace.

MCC has a robust program in place for a variety of careers, each in accordance with federal guidelines and industry standards.  At Hot Topics: Apprenticeship How To, you will learn how MCC can help you get started.

This free event takes place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 11 at Velocity Collaboration Center, 6633 18 Mile Road, Sterling Heights.  Contact Joann Priester at Joann.Priester@MacombGov.org or 586-469-5285 to confirm your attendance.
