Plan Review
Food Service permit applicants and permit holders are required to submit the necessary documents to the health department for review and approval before construction, conversion or remodeling begins. This helps establishments save time and money by ensuring they will comply with current code and regulatory requirements.
In addition, facilities that are undergoing an ownership change and/or have been closed closed for six (6) months or longer must receive approval through the Plan Review process to ensure the facility complies with current regulatory requirements.
New Construction
Before construction of a new food service establishment begins, the permit applicant shall submit the following:
- Completed Plan Review Application
- Properly prepared Plan Review Worksheet packet
- Equipment specification sheets
- One (1) set of plans drawn to scale
- Proposed Menu
- Written Standard Operating Procedures
- Plan Review fee for a New Construction
Conversion
Before work begins to convert an existing structure into a food service establishment, the permit applicant shall submit the following:
- Completed Plan Review Application
- Properly prepared Plan Review Worksheet packet
- Equipment specification sheets
- One (1) set of plans drawn to scale
- Proposed Menu
- Written Standard Operating Procedures
- Plan Review fee for a New Construction
Remodel
Before work to remodel the food preparation, food handling, and food storage areas of an existing food service establishment begins or before changing any equipment, the permit holder shall submit the following:
- Completed Plan Review Application
- Properly prepared Plan Review Worksheet packet
- Equipment specification sheets if equipment if being changed
- One (1) set of plans drawn to scale
- Proposed Menu if changed
- Written Standard Operating Procedures
- Plan Review fee for Remodeling
Ownership Change and Extended Vacancy
1. Food service establishment has been closed six (6) months or longer and there are no changes to the facility, equipment, menu or only minor change to the menu, the new owner must submit:
- Operational/menu documentation
- Plan Review Inspection fee
OR
2. Food service establishment has been closed six (6) months or longer and there are changes to the facility, equipment or menu, the new owner must submit:
- Completed Plan Review Application
- Properly prepared Plan Review Worksheet packet
- Equipment specification sheets
- One (1) set of plans drawn to scale
- Proposed Menu
- Written Standard Operating Procedures
- Plan Review fee for a New Construction
OR
3. Food service establishment has been closed less than six (6) months and there are changes to the facility, equipment or major change to the menu the new owner must submit:
- Completed Plan Review Application
- Properly prepared Plan Review Worksheet packet
- Equipment specification sheets if equipment if being changed
- One (1) set of plans drawn to scale
- Proposed Menu if changed
- Written Standard Operating Procedures
- Plan Review fee for Remodeling
All establishments undergoing the Plan Review process must be inspected and approved by this Department prior to operation.
