Awards and Distinctions

 

 
  • Recipient of a Model Practice Award from the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) for developing and implementing the Youth Emergency Preparedness Training Program for Macomb County (2019).

 

 

  • Received an Achievement Award from the National Association of Counties (NACo) for the Pharmacy Outreach Medication Collection Program in Macomb County. This initiative is focused on educating the public on the environmental impacts of improperly disposing of unwanted and outdated pharmaceuticals and providing free, convenient collection sites where unwanted medications can be properly disposed of (2018).

 

  • Became the first Women Infant and Children (WIC) agency in Michigan to pilot the WIC Baby Carrier program that that provides a free baby carriers to eligible WIC participants (2018).

 

  • Recipient of the Jean Chabut Health Policy Champion Award from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services in recognition of achieving NACCHO’s Project Public Health Ready (PPHR) designation for exceptional preparedness and response capability by meeting a comprehensive set of nationally recognized standards. PPHR is a rigorous program that requires a tremendous amount of time, collaboration and dedication (2017).

 

 

  • Received Project Public Health Ready (PPHR) recognition from the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) for exceptional preparedness and response capability by meeting a comprehensive set of nationally recognized standards. This intensive 18-month program provides local health departments the structure to build training and preparedness capacity using a continuous quality improvement model (2016).

 

  • Received three Achievement Awards from the National Association of Counties (NACo); one for Immunization Improvements Using the HL7 Interface to the State of Michigan’s Registry, another for the Family Support Group for Children’s Special Health Care Services, and a third for Advancing Health Communications (2016).
