Take-Away Tuesday: Small Business Level of Effort for Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification

Join Macomb Regional APEX Accelerator along with subject matter expert Adam Austin, Cybersecurity Lead at Totem.Tech  a small, veteran-owned prime USAF contractor for an important conversation about small business Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC).

The online event will take place Tuesday, Dec. 3 from 9-10 a.m.

The US Federal government recognizes the risk of theft of its sensitive information -- such as Federal Contract Information (FCI) and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) -- from its supply chain information systems.  Therefore, all federal contractors have certain basic cybersecurity requirements they must implement in their internal information technology (IT) systems that process federal contract-related data.

Austin will describe some of the challenges small businesses face when implementing these requirements and pursuing certification, with a focus on expected costs, timelines, level of effort, and where small businesses should start. The presentation will introduce several resources that Apex Accelerator clients can use to navigate the cybersecurity compliance landscape.

There are no fees to attend the event, but registration is required.

Small business security compliance will be discussed.
