Macomb County Veterans Services was established through the Michigan Legislature Public Act 192 of 1953. The department was created by the County Board of Commissioners and is under administration by the County Veterans Services Committee. The department is fully funded by the Macomb County veterans millage. The department leader is retired U.S. Air Force Master Sergeant and Chief Veteran Service Officer Laura Rios.
Veterans Services' goal is to provide outstanding service to the veterans and their families who reside in Macomb County by maximizing the receipt of veterans benefits and eliminating or reducing the frustration and confusion that go along with the process. The mission of its professional staff is to provide accurate, efficient and timely services to ensure delivery of benefits. Most services require an appointment; in-person, virtual, drop-off and/or phone appointments are available.
