Woman charged with premeditated murder and vulnerable adult abuse

Press Release

Macomb Township, MI – Yesterday, April 2, 2025, the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) took custody of Linda Polk, 52-years-old, from Clinton Township, on charges of 1st Degree Murder, Vulnerable Adult Abuse and Fraud. The arrest comes as a result of a several-month, rigorous investigation by the MCSO Detective Bureau.

Polk began providing in-home care for the victim’s wife in spring of 2021. In early 2024, the victim, a 78-year-old male from Macomb Township, reportedly began to decline in health as well. Due to an illness in October of 2024, the victim was transferred to a local hospital and placed on life support.

Polk allegedly obtained fraudulent Power of Attorney (PoA) over the victim and instructed the hospital to have the victim taken off life support. Tragically, the victim succumbed to his illness and passed away October 19, 2024.

Polk did not inform the victim’s family of his passing and used the PoA to have the victim cremated. She then authored a fraudulent Quit-Claim deed on the victim’s home. Polk also allegedly embezzled a large sum of money from the victim and opened, and used, credit cards in the victim’s name.

Polk was arraigned today over Zoom by 41-B District Court on charges of:

  • Count 1: Homicide – murder first degree – premeditated; a life without parole felony
  • Count 2: Forgery of a document affecting real property; a fourteen-year felony
  • Count 3: Forgery of a document affecting real property; a fourteen-year felony
  • Count 4: Embezzlement – from a vulnerable adult - $1,000 or more but less than $20,000; a five-year felony
  • Count 5: Identity theft; a five-year felony
  • Count 6: Identity theft; a five-year felony
  • Count 7: Financial transaction device illegal sale/use
  • Count 8: Financial transaction device illegal sale/use

Polk was given a bond of $1,000,000 cash/surety, with a steel cuff tether upon release, as well as being required to turn over her passport.

Clinton Township Police Department is also investigating Polk on charges of fraud.
