Macomb Township, MI – Monday, February 3, 2025, at approximately 11:27AM, Macomb County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) Deputies were dispatched to a fast-food restaurant on Hall Road for a dog being abused inside of a camper van. A witness stated he observed the suspect, a 25-year-old male, from Manistee, striking the puppy numerous times with a “cylindrical item.”
Deputies arrived to find Macomb County Animal Control already on scene. The suspect, Corbin Miller, refused to comply with Deputy requests to roll down his window, exit the vehicle, or let Animal Control tend to the puppy.
Deputies eventually gained entry to the camper van. They observed “Maeby,” a female, 3-month-old, German pointer mix, with visible injuries to her leg and yelping when picked up.
Miller remained uncooperative and was taken into custody. He was arraigned yesterday at 41A District Court in Shelby on charges of:
- One count: Animals – killing/torture – 3rd degree a 4-year felony
- Two counts: Police officer – assaulting/resisting/obstructing – 2-year felony
Bond set at $100,000 cash/surety, no 10%. Miller remains lodged at the Macomb County Jail.
Animal Control Chief Randazzo advised that Maeby suffered a skull fracture, pelvic girdle fracture, and a femur fracture. As of this morning, she is stable and is in good spirits, awaiting possible surgery.
