About us

Who we are and what we do

Macomb County Elder Justice Alliance. Protecting seniors, preserving dignity.

Mission

Our mission is to organize and amplify the efforts of agencies and individuals to end elder abuse, fraud, exploitation and neglect through education, collaboration and advocacy for victims and those at risk for abuse.

About Us

Macomb County Alliance for Elder Justice was established in 2023 by the Macomb County Office of Senior Services to strengthen coordination among agencies responding to elder abuse and advance effective prevention strategies. Our Alliance brings together community members, businesses, social services, organizations, and dedicated individuals - all committed to ending elder abuse and exploitation while promoting a safe, just, and high-quality life for older adults in our community.

What is Elder Abuse?

Elder abuse includes physical, emotional and sexual abuse as well as financial exploitation and neglect. The consequences of elder abuse include serious injury, financial ruin, nursing homes placement, cognitive decline or premature death.

What is Elder Justice?

Creating communities, support networks and public policies that enable older adults to remain active and connected to their communities free from the threat of abuse, neglect and exploitation.
