Mount Clemens, MI - Today, James Rockett, age 43, was sentenced by Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Jennifer Faunce to life without parole for his First Degree Murder and Felony Firearm conviction.

On Friday, April 26, 2024, a Macomb County jury convicted Rockett on all charges after a four-day jury trial by Assistant Prosecutors Mark Laws and Brian Fox.  The jury returned a guilty verdict after an hour of deliberation.

On Thursday, March 10, 2022, Rockett went to the home of his ex-girlfriend and shot her 15 times in front of her children.

“The life sentence without the possibility of parole reflects the gravity of the crime and the irreparable harm caused. This verdict ensures that the defendant will never again have the opportunity to inflict pain and suffering upon another individual. Our thoughts remain with the victim's family, and we hope this outcome brings them some measure of peace and closure,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
