Mount Clemens, MI -  A 52-year-old Warren resident was arraigned in connection with failing to stop at an accident scene.

It is alleged that on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, Adib Mikha Estefo hit a pedestrian on Gratiot Ave. in Eastpointe when road conditions were dark and rainy.  Estefo allegedly failed to stop after striking the pedestrian.  The victim, Christopher Pounce, Jr., age 30, died of his injuries.

Adib Mikha Estefo was charged with Failing to Stop at the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Death, a five year felony.  He was arraigned in 38th Eastpointe District Court where District Court Judge Kathleen Galen set bond at $75,000 cash/surety, no 10%.  Upon release, the defendant can not leave the State of Michigan, must wear a GPS tether, have random drug and alcohol screening, and must surrender his passport.  A Probable Cause Hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at 8:00am and a Preliminary Exam is scheduled for Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at 8:00 am.

"Failing to stop at the scene of a fatal accident is not only a violation of the law, but an unconscionable act that denies the victim the dignity they deserve. We will ensure that these actions have the consequences and the defendant is held accountable to the fullest extent of the law," said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.

The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office represents the People.  We are committed to achieving justice and following the laws of the State of Michigan. All that are accused of a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
