On Thursday, November 28, 2024, the victim arrived at Darrien Harris' residence to deliver a gift to his son. A verbal altercation ensued between Harris and the victim. As the victim was getting into a vehicle to leave, Harris allegedly shot him. The victim is expected to recover.

"This was a senseless act of violence that stemmed from a verbal argument and could have been avoided," said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido. "We take incidents involving firearms very seriously and will pursue justice to ensure accountability for such reckless behavior."

Today, Harris was arraigned in 37th Warren District Court where District Court Chief Judge John Chmura set bond at $750,000 cash/surety.  If released, Harris is to wear a GPS tether and have no contact with any witnesses.  A Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for Thursday, December 12, 2024 at 8:30am and a Preliminary Exam is scheduled for Thursday, December 19, 2024 at 8:30am.
