UAW Supervisor Arraigned for Alleged Sexual Assault of Female Worker at Ford Plant

Mount Clemens, MI - A 48-year-old UAW supervisor was arraigned in connection with the sexual assault for an employee at the Ford Plant in Sterling Heights.

On Monday, August 26, 2024, Angelo Joseph Lupo allegedly abused his position of authority to lure a young female employee into his office, where he then confined and sexually assaulted her. Lupo now faces serious charges, including two counts of Third Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct and one count of Unlawful Imprisonment—each carrying a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison.

Lupo was arraigned in the 41A Sterling Heights District Court, where the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office requested a bond of $200,000. However, Magistrate Michael Piatek denied the request and set bond at $50,000, 10%. Upon release, the defendant is required to have no contact with the victim and must surrender his passport. A Probable Cause Hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at 9:00 AM before District Court Judge Stephen Sierawski.

"Our hearts go out to the victim, who showed immense courage in coming forward. Using a position of authority to exploit and harm another individual is a serious offense, and our office is committed to seeking justice on her behalf," said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.

The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office represents the People.  We are committed to achieving justice and following the laws of the State of Michigan. All that are accused of a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
