Mount Clemens, MI -  Two men have been arraigned in connection with a shooting after an alleged drug deal went bad at Veterans Park in Warren.

It is alleged that on Saturday, August 31, 2024, Robert Johnson and a 16-year-old male juvenile set up a drug deal to buy drugs from Illya Green Jr. at Veterans Park.  During the transaction, Johnson and the juvenile produced handguns and took the drugs from Green.  Green in turn fired multiple shots at the robbers, hitting the juvenile.  The juvenile is listed in critical condition at a local hospital.

“What began as an alleged drug transaction quickly escalated into a dangerous situation involving firearms, causing great risk to the public. These actions endangered not only those involved but also the entire community. We take this matter seriously and will ensure that those responsible are held accountable for their reckless and violent behavior," said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.

Robert Johnson, age 18, was charged with Armed Robbery, a life felony, Felony Firearm, a two year mandatory felony, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, a five year felony and Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery, a life felony.

Illya Green, Jr., age 22, was charged with Carrying a Concealed Weapon, a five year felony, Delivery of a Controlled Substance, a four year felony, and Felony Firearm, a mandatory two year felony.

Robert Johnson of Eastpointe was arraigned in 37 Warren District Court where District Court Judge Steve Bieda set bond at $500,000 cash/surety, no 10%.  If released Johnson is to wear a GPS tether.

Illya Green Jr. of Oak Park was arraigned in 37 Warren District Court where District Court Judge Steve Bieda set bond at $500,000 cash/surety, no 10%.  If released Green is to wear a GPS tether.

Both men are scheduled for a Probable Cause Hearing on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at 9:30 am and a Preliminary Exam on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at 9:30 am by Warren District Court Judge Michael Chupa.
