Two Juveniles Arraigned in Plot to Kill Mother
Mount Clemens, MI: A 14-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy were arraigned in connection with the attempted murder of the 14-year-old girl's mother.
On Wednesday, July 24, 2024, the 17-year-old juvenile male entered the victim’s home and strangled her before being confronted and fleeing the Eastpointe residence. The victim survived and is expected to recover. After an extensive investigation by the Eastpointe Police Department, it was determined that the 14-year-old daughter of the victim planned the murder with the 17-year-old male.
The 14-year-old female was charged with Solicitation of Murder, a life felony, and Conspiracy to Commit First Degree Premeditated Murder, a life without parole felony. The 17-year-old male was charged with Conspiracy to Commit First Degree Premeditated Murder, a life without parole felony, and Assault with Intent to Murder, a life felony.
The 14-year-old girl was arraigned on August 14, 2024, where Eastpointe District Court Magistrate Mark Makowski set a $1 million bond. If released, the defendant is to wear a steel GPS tether, restricted to home confinement, have no contact with the victim, witnesses, or co-defendant, and have no access to the internet. She was remanded to the Juvenile Justice Center
The 17-year-old boy was arraigned on August 12, 2024, where Eastpointe District Court Magistrate Mark Makowski set a $2.5 million bond. If released, the defendant is to wear a steel GPS tether, restricted to home confinement, have no contact with the victim, witnesses, or co-defendant, and have no access to the internet. He was remanded to the Juvenile Justice Center.
Both defendants are scheduled for a Probable Cause Hearing for August 27, 2024, at 8:00 a.m. in Eastpointe District Court by District Court Judge Kathleen Galen.
“The alleged actions of these juveniles are not just illegal but also incredibly dangerous. This level of criminal activity is unacceptable, and we intend to treat it with the severity it deserves. That's why we are seeking to charge these juveniles as adults—because when you commit adult crimes, you face adult consequences," said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
