Mount Clemens, MI -A 45-year-old man from St. Clair Shores has been arraigned on charges of failing to pay child support for his minor child.

On Tuesday, April 23, 2019, Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Matthew Switalski ordered Jason Demski to pay $369 per month in child support. However, Demski allegedly owes $19,977.69 in unpaid child support. He has faced two show-cause hearings and had two bench warrants issued against him.

After exhausting all enforcement options, the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office charged Demski with felony nonsupport, which carries a potential penalty of up to four years in prison. On Monday, December 2, 2024, Demski was arraigned in the 41B District Court in Clinton Township before Magistrate Ryan Zemke, who set his bond at $4,994. A Probable Cause Hearing is scheduled for Monday, December 9, 2024, at 8:30 a.m. before District Court Judge Jacob Femminineo, Jr.

"This case highlights our commitment to holding individuals accountable for their legal obligation to support their children," said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido. "When a parent fails to provide the financial support their child depends on, it harms the entire family. Our office will continue to pursue justice and ensure that children receive the resources they need to thrive."

The Family Division of the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office oversees felony nonsupport cases where arrears exceed $5,000, payments have not been made for three consecutive months, and there is evidence the noncustodial parent has the financial means to pay. The division’s primary goal is to secure financial support for children while ensuring justice is served.
