Shelby Township Father Arraigned for Owing Over $23K in Back Child Support for his Minor Child

Mount Clemens, MI - A 45-year-old man from Shelby Township has been arraigned for failing to pay child support for his minor child.
On June 12, 2006, Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Antonio Viviano ordered Michael Miner to pay $491 per month in child support. Miner has had four show cause hearings and one bench warrant.
After exhausting all enforcement options, the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office charged Miner with felony nonsupport, a four year felony.
On Monday, January 6, 2025, Miner was arraigned in the 41B District Court in Clinton Township before Magistrate Ryan Zemke, who set bond at $5,862. Miner still owes over $23,448 in back child support. A Probable Cause Hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at 8:30 am by District Court Judge Sebastian Lucido.
"Prosecuting individuals with substantial unpaid child support is our way of ensuring justice and safeguarding the well-being of Macomb County children," stated Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
The Family Division of the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office handles felony nonsupport cases where unpaid child support exceeds $5,000, no payments have been made for three consecutive months, and the noncustodial parent has the financial ability to pay. The division’s main objective is to secure financial support for children while ensuring justice is served.
