Roseville Father Arraigned for Owing Over $28K in Back Child Support

Mount Clemens, MI - A 37-year-old father has been arraigned for failing to pay child support for his minor child after the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office found he had the ability to pay and exhausted all efforts of trying to work with him on payment options.
On Tuesday, August 3, 2010, Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Tracey Yokich ordered Reginald Vanderwill to pay child support. Vanderwill owes over $28K in back child support and has had seven show cause hearings and three bench warrants. The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office charged Vanderwill with felony nonsupport, which carries a potential penalty of up to four years in prison.
On Friday, January 10, 2025, Vanderwill was arraigned in the 41B District Court in Clinton Township before Magistrate Ryan Zemke, who set a cash bond at $7,000. A Probable Cause Hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at 10:30am before District Court Judge Jacob Femminineo, Jr.
"Failure to pay child support is not just a financial matter; it directly impacts the well-being of children. We will ensure that justice is served and that the needs of the children are prioritized," said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
The Family Division of the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office oversees felony nonsupport cases where arrears exceed $5,000, payments have not been made for three consecutive months, and there is evidence the noncustodial parent has the financial means to pay. The Division’s primary goal is to secure financial support for children while ensuring justice is served.
