Mount Clemens, MI -  A 44-year-old Roseville father has been arraigned for failing to pay child support for his minor child. After a thorough investigation, the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office determined that the father had the ability to pay and exhausted all efforts to collaborate with him on payment options.

On Monday, November 9, 2015, Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Mark Switalski ordered Mark Hummel to pay child support for his minor child. After failing to comply with the court’s order and accruing over $29,000 in child support arrearages, the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office charged Hummel with felony nonsupport, a four-year felony.

On Thursday,  January 23, 2025, Hummel was arraigned in the 41B District Court in Clinton Township before Magistrate Ryan Zemke, who set the bond at $7,406.  A Probable Cause Hearing is scheduled for Monday, February 3, 2025, at 8:30 am before District Court Judge Sebastian Lucido.

"Failing to pay child support not only violates the law but also places an undue burden on the well-being of the child. We take cases like this seriously because every child deserves the resources and opportunities to thrive," said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.

The Family Division of the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office oversees felony nonsupport cases where arrears exceed $5,000, payments have not been made for three consecutive months, and there is evidence the noncustodial parent has the financial means to pay. The division’s primary goal is to secure financial support for children while ensuring justice is served.
