Riley Township Man Sentenced for Arson in Ex-Girlfriend's Garage Fire

Zachary Zielonka was sentenced by Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Julie Gatti after Zielonka pled no contest on all charges.

Riley Township Man Sentenced for Arson in Ex-Girlfriend's Garage Fire

Mount Clemens, MI - Zachary Zielonka was sentenced by Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Julie Gatti after Zielonka pled no contest on all charges.

On Thursday, September 7, 2023, Zachary Zielonka, age 31, broke into the victim’s attached garage of her Richmond Twp. home. Then, he set a vehicle on fire in the garage. Zachary Zielonka was charged with Second Degree Arson (20 year felony), and Home Invasion in the First Degree (20 year felony). In June 2024, Zielonka pled no contest to all charges.

Today, Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Julie Gatti sentenced Zachary Zielonka to the Michigan Department of Corrections for 30 months to 20 years for both counts.

“Our community can rest a little easier knowing that such dangerous behavior will not be tolerated. We remain committed to upholding the law and protecting our citizens from such acts,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
