Warren man waives exam on 14 felonies related to Aggravated Child Sexual Abuse Activity and Material

Mount Clemens, Mich. - Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido announced that 26-year-old Tony Anthony Winston, of Warren, Michigan, waived his Preliminary Exam on felony charges related to child sexually abusive activity and materials.

On Tuesday, August 11, 2026, a Probable Cause Hearing for Winston was held before Judge Michael Chupa at the 37th District Court in Warren, Michigan. At that hearing, he waived his right to the exam and was bound over for trial. Winston is scheduled to be arraigned before Judge Jennifer M. Faunce in the Macomb County Circuit Court on Monday, August 24, 2026, at 1:30 p.m.

Winston is charged with the following:

ONE COUNT: Child Sexual Abuse Activity – Aggravated, a felony punishable by up to 25 Years 

ONE COUNT: Computers - Using To Commit A Crime – Maximum Imprisonment Of 20 Years Or More Or Life, a 20-year felony

ONE COUNT: Child Sexual Abuse Activity - Aggravated Distributing or Promoting, a 15-year felony

FIVE COUNTS: Child Sexual Abuse Material - Aggravated Possession, a 10-year felony

SIX COUNTS: Computers - Using To Commit A Crime – Maximum Imprisonment Of 10 Years Or More But Less Than 20 Years, a 10-year felony.

These are the maximum charges available under the law based upon the evidence presented to date.

The charges against Winston stem from an investigation by the Warren Police Department, in partnership with the Michigan State Police Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. It is alleged that investigators recovered numerous files of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) from Winston's cellular phone.

“Allegations involving child sexual abuse material are among the most disturbing cases our office handles because they involve the exploitation of children and can cause lasting harm to victims. The trauma does not simply end when the abuse occurs. When images or videos are viewed, possessed, or shared, the record of the victim’s abuse remains in circulation. We will not tolerate those who are accused of contributing to this ongoing victimization. Our office will aggressively pursue these cases and seek accountability for those who exploit children,” stated Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
