Mount Clemens, MI – Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido announced that 19-year-old Emari Young of Warren has been arraigned on charges stemming from allegations that he attempted to sell a stolen handgun on Instagram.
It is alleged that on January 16, 2026, Young negotiated the sale of a handgun to buyer through social media. A traffic stop on the vehicle Young was in revealed the weapon Young displayed on social media. A subsequent search warrant was executed at Young’s residence. Additional firearms, ammunition, magazines and cocaine were recovered.
While in custody at the Warren Police Department Jail, Young allegedly pulled a telephone off the wall, causing it to break.
On Friday January 16, 2026, Young was arraigned before Judge John M. Chmura in the 37th District Court in Warren, MI on the following charges:
Count 1: Weapons – Carrying Concealed, a 5-year felony
Count 2: Weapons – Firearms – Receiving and Concealing, a 10-year felony
Count 3: Weapons, Felony Firearm, mandatory 2-year felony consecutive to main charge
Count 4: Controlled Substances – Possession (Cocaine, Heroin or Another Narcotic) less than 25 grams, a 4-year felony
Count 5: Weapons, Felony Firearm, mandatory 2-year felony consecutive to main charge
Count 6: Malicious Destruction of Police Property, a 4-year felony
Count 7: Computers – Using to Commit a Crime – Maximum Imprisonment of 1 year or Less, a 1-year misdemeanor
Count 8: Weapons – Firearms – Sale Without Compliance Pistol, a 90-day misdemeanor
These are the maximum charges available under the law based upon the evidence presented to date.
Judge Chmura set Young’ bond at $250,000 cash/surety. He must wear a tether if released. Young is scheduled for a Probable Cause Conference on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at 8:45 a.m., before Judge Suzanne Faunce at the 37th District Court in Warren.
“This arraignment highlights the serious danger posed by illegal firearms in our community, particularly when stolen weapons are allegedly trafficked on the streets. Guns in the wrong hands fuel violence and put innocent people at risk, and these alleged offenses will be treated with the gravity they deserve,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
