Mt. Clemens, MI – Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido announced individuals were arraigned in connection with the alleged attempted murder of local businessman Eddie Jawad.
Jasan Martin and his brother Rachard Huffman were arraigned on charges of Conspiracy to Commit First-Degree Murder. Dawn Huffman, Rachard Huffman’s wife and the office manager of Jawad Investments at the time of the alleged offenses, was arraigned on embezzlement charges. Rachard was employed by Jawad Investments from August of 2023 until August of 2025, and Dawn was employed by Jawad Investments for over 22 years.
On Monday, November 3, 2025, during 32-year-old Jasan Martin’s Probable Cause Conference before Judge Stephen S. Sierawski in the 41A District Court in Shelby Township, MI, Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Carrie Seward announced an additional charge of Conspiracy to Commit First-Degree Premeditated Murder, a life offense without the possibility of parole. Martin was already facing six other felony charges. Judge Sierawski continued Martin’s previously set $1 million bond. He is scheduled for a Preliminary Exam on Monday, Nov. 24, 2025. Martin is currently detained at the Macomb County Jail.
Also on Monday, Nov. 3, 2025, 39-year-old Rachard Deandre Huffman, of Sterling Heights, Michigan, was arraigned before Judge Stephen S. Sierawski on charges of Conspiracy to Commit First-Degree Murder, a life offense, and Conspiracy to Commit Embezzlement – Agent or Trustee $1,000 or More but Less Than $20,000, a five-year felony.
Dawn Huffman, also of Sterling Heights, MI, was arraigned before Judge Sierawski on two counts of embezzlement:
- Embezzlement of $100,000 or More, a 20-year felony, and
- Conspiracy to Commit Embezzlement – Agent or Trustee $1,000 or More but Less Than $20,000, a five-year felony.
Judge Sierawski set Rachard Huffman’s bond at $1 million, cash/surety only. Dawn Huffman’s bond is set at $500,000, cash/surety only. If either individual is able to post bond, they must wear a GPS tether and have no contact with co-defendants. Both are scheduled for Probable Cause Conferences on Monday, Nov. 17, 2025, and Preliminary Exams on Monday, Nov. 24, 2025, at the 41A District Court, Shelby Township, MI.
It is alleged that 44-year-old Dawn Huffman, as the office manager for Eddie Jawad’s business, handled a credit card intended to pay DTE bills for multiple Jawad Investment properties. She is accused of using that card to embezzle more than $100,000. It is further alleged that Rachard Huffman and Jasan Martin conspired to silence Jawad in an attempt to prevent him from pursuing the matter and Jawad was shot days later.
It is alleged that in the morning of Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2025, Martin entered Jawad’s property and concealed himself underneath a vehicle parked in Jawad’s driveway. Jawad drove out of his garage and Martin came out from his hiding place. Martin fired multiple gunshots as Jawad drove past him.
Martin was previously arraigned before Judge Stephen S. Sierawski on the following charges:
COUNT 1: Assault with Intent To Murder, a life or any term of years felony

- Martin also has a Habitual Offender - Fourth Offense Notice, subjecting him to mandatory life in prison if convicted of any of the primary felonies.
