St. Clair Shores man bound over to circuit court on animal torture charge

Press Release

Mount Clemens, MI – Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido announced that 28-year-old Michael Sikorski, of St. Clair Shores, waived his Preliminary Exam on a charge of Third-Degree Animal Torture after he allegedly physically abused his dog.

On Friday, April 10, 2026, a Preliminary Exam was scheduled for Sikorski before Judge Joseph Craigen Oster in the 40th District Court in St. Clair Shores, MI. Sikorski waived his right to the exam and was bound over to the circuit court for trial. He will be arraigned at the Macomb County Circuit Court before Judge Anthony R. Servitto on Monday, April 20, 2026, at 1:30 p.m.

Sikorski is charged with Animals – Torture – Third Degree. This charge is a 4-year felony and the maximum charge available under the law based on the evidence presented.

It is alleged that on Sunday, March 15, 2026, Sikorski was slamming his dog, called Steel, onto the ground, kicked the dog several times, and lifted it by its leash, strangling it, before slamming the dog into the ground again.  It is believed Steel is not permanently injured.

“Animal abuse is not a private matter, it is a criminal act that reflects a disregard for life and the law. Pets depend entirely on their owners for care and protection. Violating that trust is both cruel and unlawful. We will hold accountable those who harm defenseless animals, because compassion is not optional, it is required.”,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.

The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office represents the People. We are committed to achieving justice and following the laws of the State of Michigan. All individuals who are accused of a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
